Academic life

"BookPunkt" started at VERN - a project to encourage the development of reading culture

If you have books that you have read, you can donate them to the library, and on BookPunkt, pick up one that interests you and return it after reading it.

Dear students, colleagues,

"BookPunkt" is the name of a new project at VERN' University, which aims to further encourage the development of a reading culture within the academic community, while simultaneously increasing the visibility of VERN's library in the everyday lives of students, professors, and other employees.

The "BookPunkt" project has started at VERN

From now on, you will find book corners in VERN's premises, where you will find books on non-academic topics that primarily serve to entertain, educate or broaden your horizons. By placing them in frequented places, some of the most respected works of domestic and world literature become easily accessible to students and staff. This encourages spontaneous reading and the development of reading habits, with an emphasis on the free use of books, without administrative restrictions, which further strengthens the idea of trust and shared responsibility in the academic community.

"BookPunkt wants to stand out as an example of good practice in connecting educational structures with informal forms of cultural participation. We therefore invite all our students, professors and employees - if you have books that you have read and do not know what to do with them - to donate them to the library and enrich the BookPunkt holdings " , explained Maja Tomiša , head of VERN's University Library.

"We will place these books at the points, and you are free to take them and read them on site or at home, and then return them to any point."

Given the developmental nature of the project, Nataša Jeličić , head of VERN' Culture, added that "the project provides a simple, affordable and sustainable way to increase the availability of books and develop a culture of sharing and circulation of knowledge in the academic community."

Stop by BookPunkt, read the book, and return it.
