Quality strategy and policy

VERN' is strategically committed to achieving the highest national and international norms and standards of quality in higher education and business. The culture of quality is a shared value and responsibility of all stakeholders of this institution and is expressed in our quality policy. The quality policy represents a reference framework for the establishment, assessment and implementation and achievement of strategic goals in the field of quality. All students, employees and external collaborators of VERN' participate in their implementation and are monitored through the VERN'Qual quality system, in accordance with the dynamics, needs and development capabilities of VERN'.

Accreditations and permits

VERN' is a private higher education institution with public rights, focused on professional higher and lifelong education and development in the fields of entrepreneurial economics, tourism, business informatics, business finance, media, communications and applied arts. Meeting the necessary legal and other normative requirements for performing this activity has been confirmed by the relevant decisions and resolutions of the competent institutions:

  • Decision on registration of the Commercial Court in Zagreb
  • Decision on enrollment in the Register of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports

All VERN's study programs are conducted in accordance with the relevant national licenses.

VERN' is subject to regular re-accreditation and periodic external independent quality assessment by the Agency for Science and Higher Education .

In the academic year 2010/2011, VERN' was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Charter for participation in international academic exchange, based on a decision by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Union (Brussels).

In 2019, the expert committee of the Agency for Science and Higher Education conducted an evaluation of quality standards at the VERN' Polytechnic and in April of the same year issued the Report of the Expert Committee on the reaccreditation of the VERN' Polytechnic .

Quality standard

VERN'Qual operates in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (hereinafter ESG).

The quality management system was implemented and first certified according to the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2000 on July 30, 2004. The system was recertified in 2010 according to the revised standard ISO 9001:2008 and is regularly monitored by an authorized certification body. After a certification audit of the integrated quality system, conducted by the international certification company SGS, VERN' was again awarded the international certificate for successful quality management according to the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2008 in January 2015. In May 2018, VERN' Polytechnic confirmed the success of its VERN'Qual quality system, awarded with the ISO 9001:2015 certificate, according to the requirements of the international standard of the same name for quality management.

In 2011, preparations began for the establishment of a quality assurance system according to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area . In 2013, the External Quality Assessment Committee of the Agency for Science and Higher Education conducted an external quality assessment of VERN'. In 2014, VERN' was awarded the international ESG Certificate (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in European Higher Education Area) for an efficient, developed and functionally structured quality assurance system in education, based on the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area. With this certificate, which is awarded for a period of five years, the Agency for Science and Higher Education confirmed that the quality assurance system at VERN' is in line with the standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area.

The acts that regulate VERN'Qual are the Regulations on Quality Assurance and Improvement , the Quality Manual, and other related documents (regulations, procedures, work instructions) that are available through VERN' EduNet. 

Awards and recognitions

The curriculum of VERN's first study program in Entrepreneurship Economics, which forms the backbone of all subsequent studies, passed an independent international evaluation by the Finnish University of Vaasa in 2000. 

In 2009, based on the decision of the Committee of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) , VERN' became a member of this prestigious international organization that gathers more than 700 members from the education, business, public services and consulting sectors from 80 countries.

As the first academic Superbrand, VERN' has continuously received Superbrands Croatia awards since 2010 (2009, 2010, 2011).

In an independent quality survey QUDAL (QUality meDAL) , the largest number of Croatian citizens stated that they consider VERN' to be the highest quality private higher education institution in Croatia.

In January 2013, VERN' was awarded the "Dr. Branko Lovrec" award for respecting students' religious freedom.

In March 2013, VERN's Vice Dean for Studies, M. Sc. Višnja Grozdanić, was announced as the winner of the award for promoting social entrepreneurship, as students at VERN' have been learning about the importance and benefits of this form of entrepreneurship for years.

In July 2014, VERN was awarded the international ESG Certificate (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area) for an efficient, developed and functionally organized quality assurance system in education, based on the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area.

Quality advice

The Quality Council is an advisory body to the Management Board. The following members of the Council were appointed by the Rector's Decision on the members of the Quality Council :

Office for Quality Assurance and Improvement

The Office for Quality Assurance and Improvement (hereinafter referred to as the Office) is an organizational unit of VERN', directly responsible to the Management Board and is responsible for the operational management of the VERN'Qual system and supervision of the implementation of measures to achieve the goals of the quality system.

Results of student survey and teaching evaluation

The results of the student surveys are based on a regular evaluation conducted by students at the end of each semester, assessing teaching and teachers in categories such as teachers' approach to teaching and courses, and teachers' relationship with students. This semester evaluation includes an evaluation of teaching performance and the characteristics of individual courses. The results obtained consistently indicate a high level of satisfaction of VERN' University students in the aforementioned aspects of their academic experience.

Anketa je provedena po završetku zimskog semestra ak. god. 2025./2026., a prosječna ocjena za sve evaluirane kategorije iznosi 4,74.

Rezultati studentske ankete na VERN’u su važan izvor informacija o tome kako studenti doživljavaju nastavu, nastavne sadržaje nastavnike, kolegije i programe, te služe kao poticaj za još bolji rad sa studentima u narednom razdoblju. Redovito se prezentiraju na Senatu, sastancima s nastavnicima i glasnogovornicima studenata.
