Education meets Business

In line with its long-standing orientation and tradition of educating experts for the needs of economic development in the European and global context, VERN' is launching a series of initiatives for stronger cooperation between the academic and economic sectors united in the concept of

#EducationmeetsBusiness

Below you can find out more details about the activities within this unique concept.

In line with these efforts, VERN' has a developed network of cooperation with external stakeholders, including some of the most successful companies and renowned institutions: BAYER doo, Coca-Cola HBC Croatia, AT Kearney, Croatian Radio and Television, Migration Research Institute, Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Croatian Association for Artificial Intelligence and many others.

Partner companies

VERN's project partners combine theoretical knowledge and practical work on real business challenges of some of the most successful companies operating in Croatia.

The project is implemented in graduate studies, and within the project, students, with the support of two mentors, an academic and a business mentor, develop concrete solutions for current or anticipated business challenges that the companies, members of the project, are facing.

The concept is divided into three segments that students go through to ensure high quality standards: theoretical classes, introduction to the project assignment and work on the project in collaboration with an academic and business mentor, and development of a solution.

Student internship

By integrating student internships into the regular curriculum , VERN's didactic and educational approach based on the "learning by doing" model allows students to gain experience in a concrete business environment while still studying. One of the essential components of professional internships is that they often result in the creation of useful contacts for future employment. They facilitate the transition from education to the world of work, thus representing an important bridge between the theoretical knowledge acquired at VERN' University and its practical application in a real business environment.

Student internship, as a mandatory course at VERN' University, allows students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have learned in real-world work situations. Through practical work during student internship, students develop skills relevant to their future profession and it allows them to become familiar with the work processes and organizational structure of individual companies. Learning through internship is focused on achieving specific learning outcomes as stipulated in the study program. Students are assigned tasks that are related to the learning outcomes and their work is monitored, evaluated and feedback is provided. Internship allows for learning based on experience, which encourages a deeper understanding of the professional content.

Employability of VERN alumni

Research shows that among the most important criteria for candidates when choosing their desired study program are:

  • acquiring practical knowledge and skills
  • possibility of international mobility
  • possibility of quick employment after graduation
  • good prospects for further career development.

Studying according to VERN's unique didactic educational model guarantees students the acquisition of modern theoretical knowledge and the development of practical knowledge and skills applicable in a dynamic domestic and international business environment. VERN's close cooperation with the business sector, through numerous initiatives and the development of academic programs, but also of students themselves directly with companies, through professional practice and mentoring projects, provides students with the opportunity to profile themselves according to the current needs of business organizations until they graduate.
