Famous British filmmaker Peter Webber , director of the films "Girl with a Pearl Earring", "Hannibal: Inception" and "Emperor", was a guest at VERN last week where he held a live MasterClass on the topic of "Filmmaking" for our Film, Television and Multimedia Design students.
The students were very interested in absorbing the advice of an experienced film expert who, in his rich professional career, has collaborated with A-list actors such as Scarlett Johansson , Tommy Lee Jones and many others.
During his presentation, he explained to the students that in the film industry, they have to be willing to compromise, especially if projects are financed from external sources. However, he added, "it's important to know what you can and can't sacrifice. You have to stay true to your vision, because that's the only way you'll gain the trust of the rest of the team."
He also revealed to the students the challenges he faces when shooting high-budget films, the good and bad sides of the film industry, what it's like to work with big Hollywood stars, and shared some useful advice that they can apply in their professional development.
