Enrollment procedure based on undergraduate grades and placement process

Applications and enrollments for the study Film and television direction and production will be possible for the winter semester of the academic year 2026/2027. (October 2026).

Requirements for enrollment in studies

  • Completed undergraduate studies of a minimum duration of 3 years or acquired 180 ECTS credits with a minimum grade point average of 3.0
  • Candidates with a grade point average of less than 3.0 upon admission must submit two recommendations from their professors or employers.

Register your interest

In order to collect all necessary information for the enrollment process and further correspondence, interested candidates are required to register their interest via the VERN'a IT system.

Candidates will receive a username and password to access their EduNeta student portal -> Studomatic during the non-binding application .

Registration method

1. Enrollment method (based on undergraduate grades and placement test)

For candidates of the graduate study program Film and Television Directing and Production:

After completing the application form, candidates are invited to submit an application work as proof of entry competencies (audiovisual literacy, knowledge of basic film and television content and basic media concepts, basic knowledge and skills in film production, mastery of the tools necessary for the production of audiovisual content), which is also a condition for taking the placement test. Candidates must submit their previous works in the audiovisual field (at least one - an audiovisual work, a feature film script or a production project) no later than 10 days before the placement test to the e-mail: razredbeni.ftrp@vern.hr . Candidates who meet this condition may take the placement test.

The next placement test will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, starting at 10 a.m.

The classification check consists of two parts:

The first part – writing an essay on the topic Director-producer's approach to the selected feature film (candidates are sent a list of 5 films they should watch and the essay is written on the example of one film chosen by the committee).

The second part is an oral exam taken before an expert committee and which assesses the candidate's knowledge in the field of expertise.

2. Evaluation as part of the placement test

For the graduate professional study program in Film and Television Directing and Production, the following evaluation conditions are prescribed as part of the placement test:

*To enroll, you must achieve at least 60% of total points.

*The total points that a candidate achieves in the classification process are not the sum of the percentages for each criterion, but are calculated using an appropriate formula. The calculation of total points and tuition fees can be simulated on the tuition fee calculator, which will be available soon.

Results of the placement test

The results of the tests are anonymous, and candidates will be notified of their results via the website under the appropriate code.

Based on the success achieved in the placement test, the candidate will be determined the amount of tuition fees for the graduate study for the academic year 2025/2026. You can find more detailed information about tuition fee models and classes at the following link -> tuition fee models.

Completion of the enrollment process

The completion of the enrollment process takes place in the following steps:

  1. Payment of the enrollment installment in the amount of EUR 350.00 - non-refundable installment, part of the tuition fee. The payment slip form is visible on the candidate's student portal under "Forms - Example of a completed payment slip".
  2. Submission of enrollment documents to the Student Office:
    • Study contract printed from your student portal – >Studomatic.
    • diploma or graduation certificate
    • list of passed exams, grades and grade point average from undergraduate studies

NOTE: VERN's students are not required to bring documentation under points b) and c) because it already exists in the VERN's archives.
