After Pula, Motovun and Brač, our student Tin Mihaljević entered the competition at the film festival in France where he will be the only representative of Croatia.

Although summer is a time for rest from academic obligations, we believe that Tin Mihaljević, a student of VERN's graduate program in Film and Television Directing and Production, could not have imagined how much of a "working summer" this would be for him.
After his film "Sotonac" entered the competition at the Pula Film Festival in July, it was followed by placements at the unique Motovun and Brač Film Festivals, and just when he was thinking of taking a break before the start of the new academic year, a new "obligation" arrived - Tin's "Sotonac" is going to the French comedy festival The Jacques Tati Award.
"In addition to Pula, Motovun and Brač, we have also submitted the film to numerous other well-known festivals for which we are still waiting for a decision on the selection. We wanted to target the largest and most famous festivals that are great for making new professional acquaintances and connections, so the first choice fell on the aforementioned three. Since many festivals are yet to be held during the year, we hope for a pass and we are sure that the greatest successes are just around the corner. We are overjoyed that the story is spreading beyond the borders of Croatia," commented Tin.
He admitted to us that they secretly hoped for this development of events because "the plot of the film itself is spatially and temporally unlimited, and in addition, it is inspired by the spirit of Jacques Tati's comedy, which makes the film even more interesting for the French audience. After a lot of time invested and a lot, a lot of effort, these events are very important to us, especially since the film was selected for the 'Best Short Film Finalist' competition, which in itself carries a certain significance. Especially after the incredibly positive comments from the festival's artistic director Ken White and a professor of sound technology at the University of Westminster in London, who also sent us a personal invitation to come and participate in the festival."
As a reminder, "The Devil" is a film about the confusing world of an exhausted sound engineer - a sound engineer - on the verge of waking and dreaming, and the main protagonists are Ivan Šarić, Dražen Čuček and Tomislav Špiček. He will be the only representative of Croatia at this French festival.
Congratulations to Tina and the team!
