Student mobility

Portuguese Erasmus semester of our student Eva Ilić

Organized by the European Erasmus student network, Eva also visited France, Spain, and Morocco.

In her impressions of the Erasmus international exchange, VERN's undergraduate Tourism student Eva Ilić emphasized that her stay abroad had a positive impact on her plans for the future, and the friendships she made in Portugal were the most special part of the exchange semester.

"Erasmus gave me the opportunity to meet new people from all over the world, make valuable friends, and live alone in another country and city. The whole experience showed me that it was worth it to go live abroad and get away from everything familiar. It had a positive impact on my self-confidence and plans for the future, which are now different after this experience," Eva told us.

In Portugal, she studied at the University of Porto-Universidade Portucalense , and her teaching was strongly oriented towards a practical approach, group work, writing seminars, and participation in various projects.

The classes were also specific due to the fact that they were intended for Erasmus students, and cooperation and communication between different cultures in curricular and extracurricular activities and in free time create new knowledge and contribute to personal development.

"Most Erasmus students are very open-minded, they probably came for the same reasons and everything is just as new to them as you. Take advantage of that and explore the country and city you are in together. Join the ESN community or similar student organizations where you will have the opportunity to meet a lot of people and travel all over the country."

"I have traveled a lot thanks to Porto's excellent air connections and cheap flights that can be purchased through Ryan Air, Easy Jet, etc. Also, in Portugal there is an excellent Flix bus connection throughout the country, and the tickets are much cheaper than in Croatia. Since I joined ESN, we have traveled a lot with them, so I have visited France, Spain and Morocco, and we have also traveled through most of Portugal. The most special places that will remain in my memory are the Azores and Madeira, islands and autonomous regions of Portugal in the Atlantic Ocean with untouched nature."
