Carpe diem

HUOJ chooses VERN' for the first Carpe Diem at a higher education institution

The participants were welcomed by Vlatka Škorić from HUOJ, and the development of VERN was presented to them by Stana Odak Krasić, Nataša Jeličić and Iva Biondić.

This year's second Carpe Diem of the Croatian Public Relations Association (HUOJ) was held at the VERN' Polytechnic, and this traditional gathering of public relations experts was held for the first time at a higher education institution. Given the academic environment and the one-hour duration, the gathering was held under the appropriate name "Carpe Ora".

The gathered members of HUOJ and guests were greeted at the beginning of the gathering by Vlatka Škorić , President of the Supervisory Board of HUOJ, after which VERN's Vice Dean for Studies Stana Odak Krasić presented to the participants the institutional development of VERN' over the past 29 years, as well as the academic successes and achievements in the education of future experts, both in the field of public relations and all others:

  • VERN' offers a total of 14 study programs (7 undergraduate and 7 specialized graduate programs),
  • dynamically develops programs of lifelong education in the segments of tourism, IT, communications and marketing, and management,
  • the employability of VERN's graduates is a high 98%, according to CES data,
  • even 20% of the best managers under the age of 40 studied at VERN, as chosen by the Leader,
  • orientation towards each student through a "student-centric" approach to the educational process,
  • a unique program of cooperation with the economy "#EducationmeetsBusiness".

It was precisely the latter that introduced the participants to Nataša Jeličić , the leader of VERN's #EducationmeetsBusiness project, who presented to representatives of PR departments of companies and agencies the models of cooperation that their companies can achieve with VERN and thus become involved in the education of future communication experts according to the real needs of their business organizations.

Since the link between all business collaborations, including the way departments within corporations or educational institutions function, is the decision to act, the Vice Dean for Strategic Development of VERN' Polytechnic, Iva Biondić , gave an interactive presentation for the participants on the topic of decision-making and resolving personal dilemmas at the moment when decisions need to be made.
