Fieldwork

At the field lesson at the Hilton, VERN students learned about the application of IT in hotel business

The goal was to show students how information technologies are used in business and how they contribute to improving business processes in all departments.

Students of VERN's undergraduate study program in Tourism visited the DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb hotel as part of their fieldwork in the course Information Technologies in Hospitality .

Our students and professor Jadranka Musulin were hosted by a team of Hilton employees: human resources manager, reception manager, restaurant manager, and IT coordinator. The goal of the visit was to show the students how information technologies are used in the operations of the Zagreb Hilton and how they contribute to improving business processes in all departments.

VERN's Tourism students, as part of the theoretical teaching in this subject, have a rare opportunity to become familiar with the world's most famous hotel system "Opera", which is used by many hotels, especially high-class ones, while on field visits to hotels they can see firsthand all the advantages of using this system. It is precisely this way of expanding practical knowledge that adequately prepares them for future jobs in hotels like this one.
