Book "Mediterranean: Past, Present, Future" presented

The fifth scientific multidisciplinary conference "Mediterranean Islands Conference (MIC-Vis 2024)" was held in September 2024, and 83 papers were selected for the book.

The promotion of the book "Mediterranean: Past, Present, Future" was held at the City Library of the Town of Vis, which is the result of the 5th international scientific multidisciplinary conference "Mediterranean Islands Conference", which was jointly organized in September 2024 by the Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar and VERN' University under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia and the Town of Vis.

The book was presented by the Director of the Institute for Social Sciences Ivo Pilar, Prof. Dr. Sc. Željko Holjevac and the Vice-Rector for Science and Quality of VERN' University, Dr. Sc. Rino Medić , who expressed their satisfaction with the long-standing cooperation in organizing the conference, which aims to position the island of Vis as a center from which to reflect on the Mediterranean. Also, during the presentation of the book, the editors of the book, Dr. Sc. Katica Jurčević from the Institute for Migration Research, Prof. Dr. Sc. Ljiljana Kaliterna Lipovčan from the Institute for Social Sciences Ivo Pilar and Prof. Art. Dr. Sc. Ozana Ramljak from VERN' University, actively participated in the discussion.

Since its first event in 2016, this multidisciplinary international conference has brought together more than 800 scientists and experts from all over the world, who have offered different perspectives on various topics and challenges facing the Mediterranean region through their scientific papers and research. The benefits of hosting such an event for the island itself were also recognized by special guests of the promotion, Hrvoje Mratinić , Mayor of the City of Vis, and Ivica Vitaljić , Mayor of the City of Komiža.

On this occasion, the aftermovie of the MIC-Vis, 2024 conference was presented and the next, sixth edition of the conference was announced, which will be held on Vis from September 16 to 19, 2026, under the name MIC-Vis, 2026.
