VERN's Journalism students participated in the first Press Club Europe

VERN's 3rd year undergraduate Journalism students participated in the work of the first Press Club Europe as part of their fieldwork.

VERN's 3rd year undergraduate Journalism students, as part of their fieldwork, accompanied by lecturer Zlatko Herljević , participated in the work of the first Press Club Europa, organized by the European Commission Representation in Croatia, whose guest was Andrej Plenković , Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia.

The panel was moderated by commentator and editor Jasmina Popović , and the Prime Minister and his interlocutors, well-known Croatian journalists and editors, reflected on the events that marked 2017 at the European level, with a focus on Croatia's greater integration into the European Union in the future.

Goran Ogurlić , editor-in-chief of Jutarnji list, Katarina Periša Čakarun , editor at Croatian Radio and Television, Bojan Divjak , editor-in-chief of Glas Slavonije, and Branko Mijić , columnist for Novi list, exchanged views with the Prime Minister.

According to Prime Minister Plenković, the most important events for the European Union this year were the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome in the context of Brexit, the election of French President Macron, and the "remain" of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

"Schengen and the Euro are two frameworks of the Government's European policy, two strategic goals that we need to achieve in the next few years," emphasized Prime Minister Plenković.

The panelists commented on the refugee crisis, open border issues with neighboring countries and preparations for Croatia's EU presidency in the first half of 2020. The Prime Minister said that the Government is intensively preparing. "It will be the most demanding event for all our departments," he said.
