The visit to the Palace of Europe was organized by the Office of MEP Ruža Tomašić, and was attended by students from the University of Applied Sciences of Slavonski Brod.

A group of VERN's students from the study programs – Journalism , Public Relations and Media Studies , Human Resources Management and Business Communications Management – visited the Palace of Europe, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, in December this year.
At the European Parliament, our students attended part of the daily plenary session on the topic "Conflict of interest and corruption affecting the protection of the EU's financial interests in Member States" . After touring the Parliament, they had the honor of attending the opening of the exhibition "La poesia del mare" by Croatian painter Stjepko Mamić , which was opened by Croatian MEP Ruža Tomašić .

The European Parliament acts as a co-legislator, sharing with the Council of the European Union (Brussels) the power to adopt and amend legislation and to decide on the European Union budget.

The Council of Europe in Strasbourg, on the other hand, is an organization that deals with the protection of human rights, advocates for freedom of expression and media freedom, freedom of assembly, equality, and the protection of minorities. This body helps European countries (47 of them) in the fight against corruption, terrorism, and in implementing necessary judicial reforms.
