Lecturer at VERN's undergraduate Journalism program , respected journalist, editor and presenter at Al Jazeera Balkans television, Nensi Blažević , led the conference "Media meets literacy" which was held in Sarajevo on September 21st and 22nd.
In addition to leading the entire conference program, our lecturer also moderated a round table discussion on the topic of "fake news as a threat to democracy", which was discussed by international experts: Professor Megan Boler from the University of Toronto, Martina Chapman , founder of the British consulting company Mercury Insights, Evgeny Morozov and Jordi Torrent from the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations initiative and Aidan White from the Ethical Journalism Network.
The conference in Sarajevo brought together a large number of European and international experts, who, through lectures and panel discussions, analyzed numerous aspects of the spread of fake news, disinformation and propaganda, as well as the development of media literacy and critical thinking as protection against these negative trends.
The conference was organized by the Evens Foundation, a leading promoter of media literacy in the European Union, with the aim of strengthening dialogue, cooperation and partnership between the education and media sectors, as well as other relevant stakeholders, including civil society and youth organizations.
