Theory in practice

Our student Andro Anić also took care of the media and information during the "Snow Queen Trophy" race.

During the Sljeme World Ski Cup race "Snow Queen Trophy", VERN's undergraduate Journalism student Andro Anić was engaged as a member of the Snow Queen media (organizational) committee, and through the realization of a major event, he was able to apply numerous knowledge and skills acquired at VERN' in practice.

As a volunteer, Andro was involved in the team that worked at the finish line before and on the day of the races, but he also participated in the organization and preparation of the press centers at The Westin Zagreb and Tomislavov dom hotels. In these centers, he was also responsible for creating the so-called infodesk panels, through which information about the race, transportation, weather forecast, events and other race-related information was transmitted.

On the finish line, however, he was in charge of coordinating and distributing official documents and start lists to the media. In agreement with the team leader, he ensured that all journalists, media and those who request it receive all information in a timely manner.

"This was an incredible experience. Working in an organizational environment related to the media is never boring. There is always something happening and there are often extraordinary situations in which you need to react carefully and thoughtfully. Working with one of the leading communication experts like Kristina Laco was unforgettable. Although this job is not related to classic PR, it is much more than that. I believe that I have gained a lot of experience, which will be useful to me in the future in field work with journalists," Andro told us.
