9th and 10th grade students from San Diego's Francis Parker School of California and their teachers attended an open discussion and lecture on the challenges of tourism during the refugee crisis.

As part of the program to familiarize young people with the cultures of other countries of the world, VERN' was visited by an international group of students from the United States of America, who are participating in the cultural exchange program "No Barriers Youth" .
Students of the 9th and 10th grades of the California school Francis Parker from San Diego and their teachers attended an open discussion and lecture on the topic of challenges in tourism during the refugee crisis, led by our lecturer Željko Trezner , deputy head of VERN's Department of Tourism.
In his presentation, he emphasized the important role and significance of tourism for the development of the economy in Croatia, but also in the rest of the world, and during an interactive discussion, the American students were explained how institutions in Croatia and the USA function, while real-life examples were used to explain society's everyday contact with tourism.
VERN's students also participated in the discussion, who, by exchanging experiences from a student perspective, sought to familiarize students with media coverage of the refugee crisis in Croatia, the role of the government and the state in managing the crisis, but also the challenges that the refugee crisis brings to tourism, the economy, and the security picture of Croatia.
"Our students expressed great satisfaction with participating in the discussion. They were delighted with the lecture and the conversation with the students, and many said that this was the best part of our visit to Zagreb," Amy Westby , director of the organization "No Barriers Youth", told us.
