Our lecturers have joined a global network of experts from American, British, Portuguese, Romanian and numerous European universities and institutions.

VERN's lecturers M.Sc. sc. Hrvoje Belani and M.Sc. sc. Igor Ljubi are engaged as researchers on the international project " Interdisciplinary Network on Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments ", which is part of the new COST action aimed at cooperation between the academic and business community, building a scientific research network of collaborators and designing smart solutions that will make life easier for people of the third age.
Our lecturers were elected to the project's steering committee for a period of four years, joining a global network of experts who will plan smart technological solutions, such as experts from the American Case Western Reserve University, the British De Montfort University, the Portuguese University of Evora, the Albanian Epoka University, the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, the Romanian University of Bucharest, and numerous international scientific institutions.
They aim to stimulate awareness and support the creation and implementation of healthy, smart and sustainable digital concepts for all generations. This action will seek to overcome critical gaps that arise at both the conceptual and pragmatic levels of innovation, in order to advance the resolution of the challenges for older citizens at the scientific and policy levels in Europe.
The participants of the action have recently, within the framework of the broader initiative SHAFE ( Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments ), published a joint program document in which recommendations are presented for promoting a healthier environment for all citizens and creating an accessible and sustainable environment with the help of information and communication technologies.
The program document, which lists VERN' University as one of the partners, sets out indicators for measuring progress and success in the implementation of this concept, and is available HERE .
