Course objectives
To introduce students to an overview of the history of film from its establishment as an art form in the early 20th century to the 1970s. To enable students to master the fundamental determinants of the aesthetic history of film, i.e. to understand the stylistic characteristics of individual film stylistic formations and individual classic works. To introduce students to the technological, social and economic factors of the historical development of film. To develop awareness of the historical context of pragmatic problems of film viewing and evaluation.
