Course objectives
To introduce students to writing for the "royal form", i.e. a feature film. The course is designed as the first part of two parts, with the second part being the course Feature Film Screenplay 2 in the first semester of the 2nd year of study. These two courses form a unit in which students will master writing a screenplay for a feature film. The goals of the first part are to teach students different forms/stages of conceptualizing ideas in the process of developing a screenplay for a feature film (logline - synopsis - treatment - scene sequence (cards) - screenplay). Students will develop the ability to notice screenwriting procedures and recognize dramaturgical patterns on the examples of individual films. The goal is also to teach students how to analyze a film script by mastering the writing of scriptdoctor and scripteditor reports.
