Planning and design of information systems
ECTS: 5
Year/Semester: 2 . years, 4 . semester
Total hours: 30
Lecturers
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of process (business) and data (information) analysis of real organizational (business) systems and the application of appropriate methods for planning and logical design of their information (sub)systems. To specifically address the phases and content of the life cycles of information systems (IS) with possible consequences if certain phases are skipped or partially (superficially) implemented. To introduce students to the fact that the design of a new information system should be carried out based on the analysis of business processes, business events and data flows between processes and events in the observed organizational (business) system. Through lectures, to demonstrate the importance and procedures for collecting data on the requirements of users of a new (designed) information system. Lectures and exercises should be focused on the application of methods and techniques in the process of analysis, process modeling, data modeling, IS development planning and resource modeling of a new information system in the environment of application of modern (current) information and communication technology. Through independent and consulting development of a working project of a less complex information system for an existing real business system, master the methods and necessary documentation that the IS project should contain when used for further physical implementation of the IS.
