Course objectives
The course is designed to introduce students to the latest knowledge in selected areas through THREE MODULES; MODERN MANAGEMENT, DESIGN THINKING and CROWDFUNDING. The aim of the Modern Management module is to introduce students to the role and importance of management and leadership of organizations, processes, people and projects. To enable understanding of basic concepts, theories and functions of management such as: planning, organizing, human resources management, leading and controlling, and to introduce students to selected contemporary topics in the field of management such as; managerial ethics and social responsibility, change management and learning organization. The aim of the Design Thinking module is to introduce students to the concept of design thinking and the application of relevant tools that will enrich their skills of innovative thinking and effective response to different types of challenges. The module is designed to guide students through all stages of the process of design reflection and action (empathy with customers/clients/partners, defining challenges, formulating ideas, prototyping, testing solutions and incorporating improvements based on feedback). Goal of the Crowdfunding module – to acquaint students with access to alternative sources of funds for financing different types of projects. After getting acquainted with this alternative way of financing, and with different examples of crowdfunding, students will have the practical task of designing the concept of a crowdfunding campaign, using experiences from the design thinking workshop and knowledge of cyber communications and social networks.
