Course objectives
The goal of the e-portfolio practicum is that through this type of teaching, students have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice by working on a student project. The development and popularization of new and social media have brought changes to the way of working and opened up new opportunities on the labor market. The goal of the e-practicum course is to train students with practical knowledge so that they can be as competitive and successful as possible on the labor market. Through the e-practicum course, through practice and systematic work on a unique online platform, students would gain practical knowledge in the fields of journalism, politics, and the functioning and management of new and social media. In this way, they would follow new trends, develop the platform they work on and develop their knowledge in their field of interest. The course would focus on teaching students how to work on online platforms in order to write topics from their chosen field of study, but would also train students in documentation, measurement, monitoring and presentation of their work in a semester portfolio - work report. The e-practicum is designed as an online editorial office thematically divided according to students' majors and interests: journalism, politics, new and social media. Students would be divided into teams/sections – just like in real online editorial offices. Lectures are designed as editorial meetings where work would be monitored, progress reports given, and topics that have been published reviewed. The goal is to create a writing habit among future journalists, media workers, political commentators, and experts, to introduce them to the importance of online media and blogs, and to encourage them to create a collaborative network; mutual commenting and support for further work. At the end of the semester, the student submits a complete report on their work and the topics they covered.
